The Nordic Competition Authorities support a strict merger control without political interference
The merger control should continue to be independent from political decision-making and the uncertainties that may follow from such regime.
This follows from a joint article by the five Directors of the Nordic Competition Authorities. They thereby distance themselves from the French-German initiative to ease the creation of so-called ”European Champions”.
As stated in the article, ”The Nordic Competition Authorities fully support strong and politically independent merger supervision at the EU level, as well as at the national level”.
