We have a tradition of arranging seminars on major issues, where academics and practitioners meet in the same arena.
The seminars, which are open for competition authority employees, researchers, lawyers and competition consultants, have been appreciated for the open discussion among the participants and we hope that this year’s seminar will be no exception.
More Pros & Cons of Vertical Restraints
This year’s theme is More Pros & Cons of Vertical Restraints. The contributors will present a variety of views on current topics concerning vertical restraints. Leading officials from competition authorities will act as discussants. The conference takes place in Stockholm on Friday November 8th, 2019.
The use of vertical restraints in business relations and current practice has sparked significant debate about the merits of such restraints, market power and abuse. E-commerce and the use of algorthims have put new light on vertical restraints.
In this year’s Pros & Cons conference Joanna Goyder will present her views on the development since 2008, when the topic was last visited by Pros & Cons. Thomas K. Cheng will give an interesting presentation on vertical restraints from the consumer perspective. Bjørn Olav Johansen will talk about resale price maintenance. David Evans will conclude the conference with a presentation on vertical restraints in the digital world.
