The Council for Research Issues examines the applications

The Swedish Competition Authority incorporates a research council, the Council for Research Issues, which consists of the Director General and external researchers affiliated to higher education institutions both in Sweden and overseas.

The ten external academic researchers are primarily active within the fields of political economics, law and business economics. Their main task is to examine and grade every grant application and by doing so, guarantee that the research to be financed is of a high quality. Read more about the Council for Research Issues

In addition to the members of the Council, two persons from the Competition Authority are also involved with examining and grading the applications. This is the Chief Economist and the Research Coordinator. If necessary, experts from other departments can also be called upon. The Competition Authority participates in the assessment process in order to help determine whether the project is relevant to the Authority’s areas of operation.
