Research within the field of competition policy, along with research into issues concerned with public procurement and State subsidies, helps to improve knowledge of the effects of competition.
The Swedish Competition Authority (Konkurrensverket), together with the Council for Research Issues, works to stimulate research within competition and public procurement and to contribute towards the qualitative and quantitative development of research in this area. For this reason we provide funding for research projects, commissioned research, seminars and the like.
In the Budget Bill for 2020, the Government has proposed that the Swedish Competition Authority's research grants be reduced by SEK 3 million. The Swedish Competition Authority's research grant will thus, if the Riksdag decides in accordance with the Government's proposal, be largely subscribed for already ongoing projects. This means that the Swedish Competition Authority is not able to carry out any announcement of research funding for 2020.
